“Defense Mechanisms ”
Part 1
You are supposed to read the following situations in detail to pick out the followings:
• Recognition of the specific defense mechanism (1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1)
• Explanation/description of the defense mechanism particularly with reference to given examples (1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1)

You fail to recall mistreatment by your mother when you were young.
A twenty one years old displays a temper tantrum
A woman who actually hates her father and considers him as un-trust worthy person does not accept her view consciously. And instead of expression of dislike or hatred, she is excessively loving and caring towards him, thus reversing her true attitude.
During an exam you want to copy answers from the neighbor’s paper. The anxiety created by the desire to cheat leads you to say to the examiner,
“you better put empty
seats between people
during this exam, as some
kids are cheating.” This
way you blame your
unacceptable impulse on
some one else.
When seen by a family
member at an X-rated
movie, you created an
explanation that you are
doing research for a class
project.
A heavy smoker in your
family died because of
lung cancer. A friend asks
you if you are going to
quit smoking and you
reply, “No, smoking is not
at all problematic for me,
see I am perfectly all
right!”
Your instructor tells you
to redo your paper; you
can’t aggress toward your
instructor, so you transfer
your anger and yell at
your younger sister.
You are very angry; you
go out and chop wood
ending up with a useful
mound of woods for fire.
Part 2
All of us use these defense mechanisms and most of the times we use these mechanisms
unconsciously. You are supposed to recognize and mention any two defense mechanisms
that you usually use/experience in your life. Also state two situations and specify how
these defense mechanisms protected you from anxiety, providing you ease. (2+2)
Instructions necessary to be followed:
1. There is a very minute difference in many of the defense mechanisms. Explore
and clear your concepts before preparing your assignment.
2. You are supposed to record your answers in the presented table. Assignment in
any other format will be marked as “ZERO”
Note:
Only in the case of Assignment, 24 hours extra / grace period after the due date is usually available to overcome uploading difficulties which may be faced by the students on last date. This extra time should only be used to meet the emergencies and above mentioned due dates should always be treated as final to avoid any inconvenience.

• Give the answer according to question.
• For acquiring the relevant knowledge don’t rely only on handouts but watch the video lectures and use other reference books also.

• The file you uploaded does not open or is corrupt
• It is in any format other than .doc (MS. Word)
