The objectives of this discussion are: • To make student understand the relationship between entrepreneurs and SMEs. • To develop the understanding of students regarding different issues of SMEs. Learning Outcomes: After attempting this assignment, students will be able to: • Identify the role of entrepreneurial community and government organization to help resolve different issues of entrepreneurship. Background: Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are directly linked with entrepreneurship. SMEs provide a great opportunity of employment and are considered as a big source of national income generation for developed and developing countries. But there are certain problems faced by SMEs. These issues are related to marketing practices (innovation, research and development), financial access, and access to skilled labor and energy crises. SMEs in Pakistan are up to these problems at organizational level and Government level. To resolve these problems; entrepreneurial community and government body can play their own roles. Both domains have their own potentials, resources and constraints. Entrepreneurial community includes individual entrepreneurs, academics, SMEs clusters etc. Government institutes have their role in policy matters. Faster and better growth of SME sector is subject to collaborative efforts of these two entities. Requirements: Please identify the problems of SMEs which can be solved under the domain of entrepreneurial community and give their brief solution as well. Give at least five points to support your answer. (10 Marks) Note: 1. You need to give the details of the problems which are particularly in the span of entrepreneurial community. 2. Please avoid discussing government related matters here. Your answer should be precise and to the point. 3. Each point carries 2 marks.
