Bitwise operators modify variables considering the bit patterns that represent the values they store.

operator asm equivalent description
& AND Bitwise AND
| OR Bitwise Inclusive OR
^ XOR Bitwise Exclusive OR
~ NOT Unary complement (bit inversion)
<< SHL Shift Left
>> SHR Shift Right
